Stop Betsy DeVos From Selling Student Loans
Do you remember the days back when abortion drugs were sold door-to-door, we could get loans without just being a credit score number and it was illegal for insurance companies to operate for profit? No? That's because all of these things existed before most of us were born. Your grandparents might remember them, since they all existed before politicians took the reigns to give businesses more power than people. It's true that many things were harder "back then," but some of them were definitely easier, too.
How to Fight Abortion Bans
It's a terrifying time to be an American right now. Betsy DeVos is pushing for Wall Street to take over student loans, Trump is pushing to legalize conceal and carry across the country so no gun bans will be allowed anywhere and there are so many anti-abortion laws being pushed on people with uteri right now that it will be a wonder if any of us make it into the next decade alive. Seriously, do rich people have nothing better to do that lie awake at night dreaming up ways to make our lives harder?
Perms Are Making A Comeback
Have you heard that perms are making a big comeback? Even salons that have never had perms on the menu before have been asked to do them, and the reason why is simple: it's not as harsh on your hair as it used to be. Curls might have been all the rage in the 80s but today the beach blowout has wavy and curly hair back in style. It's just a much more natural-looking style with fewer chemicals that do hair damange.
The Right Hates Women
It has never been more painfully clear that the Right hates women with a passion. By criminalizing abortion, not only are they condemning women and other people with uteri with life-altering circumstances, poverty, sex shaming and the sole responsibility for pregnancy (which is caused not by sex but by sperm; plenty of people have sex without sperm and do not get pregnant), but with death itself.
Booze Subscription Boxes
There is a subscription box for everything, whether you're into stickers, sewing, makeup or, yes, booze. There are over a dozen alcohol subscription boxes available in the United States that will send you a special curated box of booze or booze-related goodies to help you keep your cabinet well-stocked, but which ones are the best of these?
Is The Dead An American Brand Now?
It's almost obvious when you think about it, but is the Grateful Dead an American brand now? Branding is the goal of most major bands, singers, actors and generally any business today, and while it wasn't as much of a thing when The Dead formed, they definitely fulfilled some major tenements to brand development without meaning to do so. They had a clear philosophy, they made sure that fans shared in it and they had their own look.
Cool Health News
With every week comes new and interesting health news. Recently there were some really cool health news stories about positive changes and inventions, such as...
Blue blocking sunglasses: these can help you sleep better at night, and in an age when we are all spending to much time on screens, we could all definitely use something like this.
The Ghost Bear
While you might already be familiar with the ghost or spirit bear, did you already know that the animal itself is a real creature? Kermode bears are black bears that are white instead of black, and there's a video of a beautiful "ghost bear" mom with her black bear cubs in this BBC Earth video. She's doing normal mama bear things like teaching her cubs to fish, but she looks amazingly striking next to her cubs. Then a surprise second kermode bear appears!

New Stranger Things Trailer
If you haven't caught the latest trailer for season 3 of Stranger Things, do yourself a favor and check it out. It is practically scandalous! Billy, Max's mean stepbrother who is understandably that way with a father like the one he's got, seems to have turned into the town heartthrob, with all of the Hawkins moms lusting after him. Hopefully he's graduated high school at this point, or at least 18 already, because Mike's mom, Mrs.
Weed Control
Okay gardeners, this is my biggest weak spot: weed control! How do you even begin to manage it? Up until now, my best strategy has basically been laborious elbow grease, pulling and pulling again. I hear prevention can be helpful, but I don't like weed killers and won't use them--at least, not the commercial ones. If there are more natural ones available I might be interested.
